TweetCurrently it’s the Christmas Open House Season in Brighton and Hove.
If you’re not familiar with the phenomena then basically its a couple of weekends in the year when home owners become art curators, filling up their houses with different artists work and opening the door to the general public. The breadth and quality of the work on show is amazing, and some of the houses are works of art in themselves!
It’s a lovely way to spend a day, wandering round the city looking at beautiful things, drinking the odd mulled wine, indulging in a tasty mince pie and meeting some lovely people along the way. It’s also a great opportunity to find some unique Christmas presents for your loved ones.

New Project – Embroidered Letters

TweetAfter making an embroidered Sampler as a gift for some lovely twins that have just arrived on the scene (Hi Luca and Lola!), it has really inspired me to do more hand embroidery. So much so that we’re planning a new bespoke embroidered lettering range.
As a proof of concept, I am in the process of creating ‘Bunting Boutique’ in fully embroidered bunting form.
After finalizing colours and lettering styles I have made a good start and am really excited about seeing it completed.
As you can imagine, it is quite time-consuming though, so if you’d like some embroidered bunting for your special day (see our bespoke page), be sure to let us know well in advance!

TweetThis is a lovely little order that was commissioned for a little girl who has just arrived in the world. I love to work with the vintage embroidered tablecloths and this particular strand has an extra little bit of embroidery hidden away, as Annabelle is Chinese and was born in the year of the goat we have tucked one away munching on one of the flowers which she will have to find when she is a bit older.

TweetWell it’s that time of year again and the Christmas shows are in full flow.
I have two for your diaries this weekend and both will have all the latest Christmas products from the Boutique.
Come and visit us in Lewes Town Hall this Saturday 1st at The Artists and Makers Fair – it’s a great one day event and will be perfect to get you in the Christmas spirit, with lots of festive gifts and treats. The Boutique will be having a one-day sale on our classic range and be offering discount vouchers to spend in our shop throughout December.
Another event not to be missed is the 2012 Christmas Artists Open Houses that run for the first 3 weekends in December. The Boutique will be showing at Cross Street Workshop in Hove alongside a wonderful selection of local talent to make your Christmas shopping easy. Its not often I come across some Irish linen doily’s – which are very special and my coloured doily stash is slowly building so watch this space as a new vintage doily bunting range could be coming soon.
The Fairy Tale Fair

TweetIf you are in the East Sussex area this coming Saturday I would highly recommend visiting The Fairy Tale Fair situated in Patcham Methodist Church and you will not be disappointed. This whimsical themed craft fair is back this spring after the success of their first two fairs in August & November last year.
The fair is a real community event, welcoming families and all ages to come along and enjoy the crafty creations and treats! All of the stallholders are local Brighton or Sussex makers so it will be a great place to go to purchase handmade, one off gifts that you certainly won’t find on the high street!
We are more than happy to say that Bunting Boutique will be supplying some bunting again to decorate the venue and we are looking forward to seeing what treats we will find there.

The Fabulous Wed Fest

TweetThe Fabulous Wed Feast is a wonderful wedding show that is happening in Devon on 16th March, doors open at 11am and close at 10pm. The show will feature live music, a banquet, rocks and frocks catwalk, DIY workshops, an art gallery and much much more.
The Fabulous WedFest offers more than just the usual wedding show, it will have an emporium of DIY loveliness aimed at couples who are looking for alternative, quirky, original, festival finds to make their wedding a little bit more like the two of them! Each exhibitor has been hand picked and is fun, creative and passionate about weddings.
Unfortunately Bunting Boutique will not be at the fair this time but we did make some lovely bespoke personalized bunting for the festival that will hopefully be used over and over at lots of different events. It is currently hanging in Jo Amour pop up window in Tiverton to promote the show.
It should be an amazing show so if you are in the Devon area or fancy a weekend away and have a wedding to plan I would defiantly recommend going you will not be disappointed.

TweetWe have recently made some bespoke paper bunting for Betty’s in Harrogate to help celebrate 30 years of their little rascal range. The bunting was used as part of a promotional photo shoot and is now being hung in their shop window. Betty’s is such a wonderful and iconic place to visit if you are in the Harrogate area and their fat rascals are very tasty.

TweetWe have recently added a new range to the shop – Tiny Bunting. It was inspired by a bespoke order and I have found they are great to brighten up smaller areas around the house or garden where the larger size triangle would be too much.
I am currently working on putting together a colour and pattern way that would look great in kids bedrooms and plan on rolling this size out as part of our Christmas range too.

TweetWe have been getting very festive at the Boutique of late, surrounding ourselves with the most gorgeous Scandinavian Christmas fabric and making lots of lovely decorations. We have some of our classic styles with a festive twist plus lots of new pieces.
The advent calendars are back again this year. They are great handmade ornaments that can be looked forward to being pulled out every year and filled with your own choice of treats. Not long now and we can put those up!
We have several paper garlands in our Christmas range, birds, stars and the classic triangle. We were so happy to get hold of some beautiful vintage Christmas wrapping paper this year that has made the most gorgeous garlands.
We are excited to add a brand new pieces to the Christmas collection this year our “Merry Christmas” bunting. Its great to hang over a fire place or just to add that festive vibe to any room. So why not treat yourself and get in the Christmas mood :)

TweetWe were absolutely made up to be asked to make some bespoke bunting for series four of Downton Abbey back in June this year and finally last Sunday (in the series finale no less!) it made its appearance!

TweetBunting Boutique will be showing again this year at the Artists and Makers Fair held in Lewes Town Hall this Saturday 30th November.

TweetWe make lots of bespoke personalised bunting for couples getting married but as of today our first ready made ‘Just Married’ strand has gone on sale on the shop.
Its been made from a vintage tablecloth with some gorgeous hand embroidered details. We picked up on the colours of the silks and used sage green and lilac lettering to bring the piece to life.
These are great banners to decorate a special area of your wedding venue, whether its over an arch way you will walk through after your ceremony, on the top table or may be even decorating an area where your cake will be cut.

TweetIts just lovely when I get sent photos of some of the bespoke wedding orders we have made so we can see it in all its glory on the big day.
We loved working on this order for Tam and Tim’s wedding as their colour scheme was lilac and sage such a great combination plus they also had some of our personalised ‘Just Married’ Bunting which went so well with their order. The vintage tablecloth that was used had some beautiful hand embroidered details in just the right colours and the two went together perfectly.
It was great to see some other features of the day that all complimented each other and was so in keeping of their garden tea party theme. Thanks Tam for your kind words and the fab photo’s!

BBC Food Festival 2014 – Hampton Court Palace!

TweetOver the summer we were very please to be asked to make all the bunting for this years BBC Good Food Festival which took place in Hampton Court Palace in August.
The brief was a ‘summer garden fete’ and along with traditional bandstands, picnic tables and parasols they wanted bunting to be hung between the famous Yew trees to add to the general garden party style.
The festival was a huge success and was packed with producers showcasing their delicious food, drink and ingredients all set in the historic Palace and its glorious gardens.
Here are a few photos of the bunting before the crowds descended, and some lovely words from my client:

This strand is double sided and we have used some great sparkly snowflake sheer fabric as an overlay to create the Frozen look.
They would be the perfect decoration for a Frozen inspired party, great to hang up for Christmas or just to recreate an ice palace in a little girls bedroom!

TweetWe will be showing our lovely Christmas ranges again this year at the Lewes Artist and Maker Fair on Saturday 5th December! It is in Lewes town hall and is on from 10 – 5pm. Well worth a visit as it is packed full of Christmas gifts and treat, there is a yummy cafe there and a creative area for the kids to keep them happy while you do a spot of shopping.

TweetWe are super excited to be a part of The Country Brocante’s Winter Fair next Saturday 28th November.
This lovely show is a must to get you in the Christmas spirit and is going to be held in the Grounds of Cowdray House, Midhurst, West Sussex, GU29 0AY.
There is going to be 3 marquees filled with vintage and antique stands, Christmas gifts, gorgeous home wares, beautiful crafts and of course we will also be there with our lovely range of Scandinavian Christmas bunting, stockings and decorations along side our well loved vintage designs.
The show opens at 9am. 9-11am is early bird entrance of £10.00 11-5pm is £5.00.
